S..S. Glenath which left on 28/5/38. In all, Chinese appear to have ordered light boats.

I discussed these letters with Mr. Jarrett

and tir. Talbot of the Foreign Office. I told

Mr. Jarrett that our telegram at (14) had been sent

before his letter was received, and he said that as

the boats in question had probably been sent on to

Canton already, he saw no necessity for a further

telegram on the lines of the last part of paragraph 2

of his letter.

It appears desirable, however, that some

general ruling should be sent to the Governor, as a

further six motor torpedo boats are being sent to

Hong
